The Spring Internship Fair connects employers with students from all majors seeking internship opportunities. This fair is for those openings only. Students: please note that most employers attending this event will be seeking candidates primarily for internship openings for summer 2016 and fall 2017.

View travel directions to Illinois State. PLEASE NOTE: As of January 2017, the Career Center is no longer receiving, delivering, or sending back any fair shipments. Please make arrangements to have your items delivered directly to you at the fair. If you need to ship your items back, you will need to coordinate through your carrier and remain with your items until your carrier picks them up. The Career Center apologizes for any inconvenience.

Register for the Spring Internship Fair. Credit card is required. Master Card, Visa, or American Express are accepted. Discover is also accepted, but payment must be made through the Braden Box Office at (309) 438-5444. If your organization is unable to pay by credit card, contact the Career Center. This fair reaches capacity quickly. So be sure to register early if you want to be stationed in a primary location. (If you are interested in the Sales Careers Job & Internship Fair on February 17 hosted by the Professional Sales Institute, you must register separately for that event. Questions about the sales career fairs can be addressed to mboehm@ilstu.edu.)

Put your best foot forward at the career fair by attending InstaCareer, our career fair preparation sessions to learn how to introduce yourself, identify what to say, get tips on how to follow-up after the fair, and more!
 

Put your best foot forward at the career fair by following these career fair planning tips:

  1. Consider why you want an internship. Learn more about internships.
  2. Get helpful tips on how to prepare for a career fair. Flip to page 16 of the Career Resource Guide.
  3. Construct an effective resume. View pages 4-6 of the Career Resource Guide. Then, visit the Career Center during drop-in hours for a resume review and/or LinkedInprofile review. 
  4. Prepare for on the spot interviews. Visit InterviewStream to get interview questions listed by major and job industry, and practice your answers.
  5. Identify your answers to commonly asked questions. Flip to page 23 of the Career Resource Guide for sample questions.
  6. Develop a 30 second summary of your professional skills, experience and interests. See pages 23-24 of the Career Resource Guide.
  7. Watch our career fair video to learn helpful tips when attending the fair, and a video from one of our career fairs to see what the fair is actually like and get inside tips and advice from students. (Download a transcript of the career fair video and the transcript from the video of one of our career fairs.) 
  8. Be sure to dress the part by reviewing page 19 of our Career Resource Guide, and page 21 for tips on proper professional etiquette.
  9. Do your research! Visit page 16 of the Career Resource Guide to learn how to do quality research on employers so you can answer the question, "what do you know about our organization?"
  10. Create your Hire-A-Redbird profile to track your internship search and experience.
  11. Get a free professional headshot photo available to Illinois State students at the fair from 4:30 - 6 p.m. Photos will be posted on Flickr within a week after the event. 
  12. Download the free Illinois State University app to view the map of the fair layout, list of employers, and other helpful tips. Visit your app store, search for the Illinois State University app, then download the Career Center Guide.
  13. Join the Career Center on Facebook and Twitter for fair updates and helpful preparation tips.
