Diversity Employer Expo

Thursday, April 5, 2017
5 - 6:30 p.m.
Hancock Stadium Club

The Diversity Employer Expo is not a career fair. At a fair, you dress up, "sell" yourself to an employer, and cross your fingers to get a job. But at the Diversity Employer Expo we remove the uncomfortable barriers of job searching and make it easy for you to connect with employers. In a comfortable, business casual environment students get to mix and mingle with employers over dinner, followed by a career expo. It's a great opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to meet with employers in a very relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

During this event, students have the opportunity to:

  • learn about the diversity initiatives that exist within the organizations attending the event
  • weigh industry options after learning more from employers
  • analyze their current network and identify where it can be broadened through internships and full-time employment opportunities

Event Agenda

I.   Networking/appetizers
II.  Networking/dinner
III. Career expo

Event Descriptions

Networking — With networking you eliminate the hurried, awkward conversations of a career fair. Instead, candidates and hiring employers can connect over appetizers and dinner to engage in casual conversation about their careers, their companies, and the resources they have available to help those with diverse backgrounds to transition from college to career.

Career Expo — After meeting employers, learning about their companies, and sharing career aspirations, it's time for candidates to learn about the positions available with the companies in attendance. Candidates are encouraged to bring their resumes and business cards.

Thank you to last year's event sponsors: Enterprise and Target for your commitment to the Cultural Career Network, the Career Center, and the students of Illinois State.
