E2 Employment Expo

Tuesday, May 20, 2014
Chicago Cultural Center
78 E. Washington Street, Chicago

E2 is not a career fair. At a fair, you dress up, "sell" yourself to an employer, and cross your fingers to get a job - without much time to do so. But not at E2. Here we remove the uncomfortable barriers of job searching and make it easy for job candidates and employers to connect. With our warm, business casual environment, employers and candidates have many opportunities to mix and mingle in a number of networking activities made just for this moment. You'll hear from hiring professionals on how to put your best foot forward and get plenty of practice doing just that. So when that big moment comes, you're ready! We help you bring out your best when it really matters. E2 – it truly is MORE than ties and tables!

Quick Tips for Candidate Attendees

Got stage fright? That's alright. Here are a few minute last minute tips on what to do during the day's events.

  1. Dress casual, but not as if you're heading to the beach. Leave the jeans and shorts at home. You'll be most comfortable mixing with others if you're wearing a polo or button-down shirt or blouse with a pair of dress pants. But please, no sneakers or flip-flops!
  2. Construct an effective resume. Then visit the Career Center for a resume critique and other helpful pointers on creating a resume before attending the event. Check out the Career Resource Guide for helpful tips on networking, developing a 30-second summary of your professional skills, experience, interests, and more.
  3. Do your research. Check out the list of employers coming to E2 so far and visit their website. NOTE: employers continue to register. So check back often for the current list of attendees. In this way, you'll know who you want to connect with and have little background information to strike up a decent conversation.

Learn more. Read the Illinois State stories article about E2. Get a snapshot of what's to come by watching the short E2 video.

If you need a special accommodation to fully participate in this program, contact the Career Center. Please allow sufficient time to arrange for the accommodation.
