You've been admitted, attended Transfer Days, and registered for your classes. Now it's time to get ready, get set, and go launch your career! Whether you are still deciding on a career/major, or want to know how to put your career plan into action, this career conference focused on transfer students is for you!
During this event, you'll participate in a variety of workshops designed to help you:

Attire is business casual. You'll be most comfortable mixing with others at this event if you're wearing a polo or button-down shirt or blouse with a pair of dress pants or khakis. Please, no gym shoes or flip-flops! The temperature in the facility may fluctuate, so you may want to consider wearing layers.
9:30 a.m. - 9:55 a.m.
10:00 a.m. - Hear remarks from a high-ranking Illinois State University administrator, and be introduced to basic tips on networking through our Networking 1.0.
Participate in Networking 2.0 while you enjoy a complimentary lunch. You'll learn advanced networking techniques and how to apply them with campus contacts and fellow transfer students. The program will conclude with a panel of alumni who were once transfer students, just like you.
Define your career goals - Have you mapped out a career path for your future? In this session, you'll explore career options based on their Strong Interest Inventory results. If you're undecided you'll gain a better understanding of their career goals and may relate to the academic programs at Illinois State. You must complete the Strong Interest Inventory prior to the conference to attend this session.
Build your career by getting involved - How do you acquire the right experiences to land your dream job? An integral part of career success is getting involved outside of the classroom to build professional experience. During this session, you'll learn about the variety of ways you can get involved to prepare for your careers. Involvement opportunities covered in this session will include student organizations, internships, department events, and more!
Conducting career research - Where should you look while researching career paths? In this interactive session, learn how to go beyond Google while using tools and strategies to assist you with researching careers. Online career research tools, and networking strategies, such as job shadows, will be covered.
The in's and out's of internships - Are you wondering what type of internship you should pursue and where you can find assistance with searching for one? Do you know how to transform your internship to a full-time job? Find the answer to these questions and more! During this session, you'll gain insight on searching, securing and succeeding in internships.
LinkedIn - LinkedIn is one of the top social media platforms for connecting employers with potential candidates. In this session, you'll learn how LinkedIn can help you achieve your career goals, and specifically how to use LinkedIn as a personal branding and networking tool.
Career fairs and networking with employers - Do you feel 100% confident with your ability to network professionally? During this session, you'll gain valuable tips on how to network with professionals and feel more confident in social and business networking settings. You'll also learn strategies on how to successfully work a career fair and what to do before, during and after it.
