The Spring Internship Fair connects employers with students from all majors seeking internship opportunities. This fair is for those openings only. Students: please note that most employers attending this event will be seeking candidates primarily for internship openings for summer and fall 2018.  

Employer information

Meet exciting new talent from Illinois State University. Join the Career Center for our Spring Internship Fair. Learn more about Illinois State's Academic Programs (includes an A-Z list of undergraduate majors) and Illinois State internships. Candidates from other local institutions may also be in attendance. View travel directions to Illinois State. Event details such as: parking, set-up, etc. will be sent to registrants two weeks prior to the event. The Career Center does not accept or send out fair shipments. Please make arrangements through your own carriers as needed. Credit card is preferred. Master Card, Visa, or American Express are accepted. Discover is also accepted, but payment must be made through the Braden Box Office at (309) 438-5444. If your organization is unable to pay by credit card, contact the Career Center. This fair reaches capacity quickly. So be sure to register early if you want to be stationed in a primary location.

Student information

Student registration for the fair is not required.  Students are encouraged to prepare for the fair by downloading the Careers by Symplicity app available from the App Store or Google Play. Students can use the app to connect with and view the list of registered employers.  Or, just view the list here:

Career fair planning tips

Make the most of the fair by following these planning tips:

  1. Consider why you want an internship
  2. Get tips to prepare for a career fair - flip to page 18 of the Career Resource Guide,then attend one of our InstaCareer career fair preparation sessions to learn how to introduce yourself, identify what to say, get tips on how to follow-up after the fair, and more!
  3. Construct an effective resume - view pages 6 - 8 of the Career Resource Guide. Then, visit the Career Center during drop-in hours or Late-night Resume Reviews/LinkedIn Reviews for feedback. 
  4. Prepare for on the spot interviews - visit InterviewStream to get interview questions listed by major and job industry, and practice your answers.
  5. Identify your answers to commonly asked questions - flip to page 27 of the Career Resource Guide for sample questions.
  6. Develop a 30 second summary - of your professional skills, experience and interests. See page 18 of the Career Resource Guide.
  7. Watch our career fair video - to learn helpful tips when attending the fair, and a video from one of our career fairs to see what the fair is actually like and get inside tips and advice from students. (Download a transcript of the career fair video and the transcript from the video of one of our career fairs.) 
  8. Dress the part - review page 25 of our Career Resource Guide, and page 21 for tips on proper professional etiquette.
  9. Do your research - review the list of employers registered by downloading the Careers by Symplicity app available from the App Store or Google Play or just click the button above. Then, visit page 31 of the Career Resource Guide to learn how to do quality research on employers so you can answer the question, "what do you know about our organization?"
  10. Create your Hire-A-Redbird profile - to track your internship search and experience, register for the fair, and to post your resume into resume books for employers to find you.
  11. Get a professional headshot photo - available free to Illinois State students at the fair from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Access your headshot photo on Flickr
  12. Join the Career Center on social media - visit Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for fair updates and helpful preparation tips.
